How we’re turning ERP data into action and outcomes with AI built for your industry.

The Path Ahead: Infusing Business Applications with Artificial Intelligence

AI is redefining what ERP can do and how quickly businesses can act. At Epicor, that makes our mission more important than ever: to ensure every supply chain decision is made with confidence, clarity, and speed.

For decades, ERP has served as the trusted system of record for the transactions, workflows, policies, and operational data that keep businesses running. AI creates an opportunity to build on that foundation. ERP can increasingly help people understand what is happening, anticipate what may happen next, and take the right action inside the workflows they already use.

The future of ERP will be defined by outcomes achieved, not simply by features delivered. That means applying AI to consequential operational decisions.

Epicor customers can use AI to:

  • Find and understand ERP information using natural language
  • Anticipate demand, inventory requirements, and operational risks
  • Turn business data into recommendations within existing workflows
  • Reduce manual document, data, and communication processes
  • Take approved actions with the appropriate security and controls
  • Help speed up development efforts

Epicor AI brings these capabilities together as part of a deliberate evolution toward Cognitive ERP: a system of insight and action designed around the outcomes that matter to makers, movers, and sellers.

Epicor Prism: From Answers to Action

Epicor Prism is a network of agentic AI assistants designed to help teams interact with their ERP in natural language, understand business information, and act within workflows.

The Epicor Prism Knowledge Agent is an accessible starting point. Instead of searching through multiple help pages, users can ask a question and receive a concise answer based on Epicor Learning content. Because the Knowledge Agent draws from Epicor-provided learning materials rather than customer business data, it gives teams a practical way to begin using AI for onboarding, learning, and everyday support.

Prism now extends beyond product documentation. Its agents can help users interpret ERP data and documents, explain the reasons behind operational results, retrieve information such as parts, purchase orders, suppliers, and shipments, and support selected migration, development, and workflow tasks.

This is an important difference between a traditional dashboard and an agentic ERP: A dashboard presents information for someone to interpret. Prism helps users move from a question, to an explanation, to the next appropriate action, all while keeping people involved in important decisions.

Adoption is already translating into measurable value. The Prism Knowledge Agent has reached approximately 8,500 monthly active users and 34,000 monthly AI interactions. Using a conservative estimate of 15 minutes saved per query, Epicor estimates that the capability returns more than 100,000 hours to users each year.

Epicor Grow: See What's Next

Where Prism helps teams understand information and execute within workflows, Epicor Grow AI provides predictive insight.

Grow AI uses machine learning to analyze ERP, legacy, and third-party data, helping businesses identify demand patterns, forecast future requirements, detect risk, and surface opportunities. It gives decision-makers an earlier view of what may be changing across sales, operations, inventory, and the supply chain.

Predictive insight is most valuable when it can lead to action. By bringing Grow AI and Prism together, Epicor can help customers move from identifying a potential issue to understanding its operational context and deciding what to do next.

Cognitive ERP: From a System of Record to a System of Outcomes

Epicor AI strengthens our next-generation, cloud-based approach to Cognitive ERP.

A traditional ERP system records what has happened. A system of action helps people decide what to do next and carry that decision into the workflow. A system of outcomes goes even further, connecting insight, action, governance, and measurement around the business result.

This progression is supported by three connected layers:

  • Industry ERP provides the trusted and secure operational foundation
  • Grow Data Platform connects and prepares business data for reporting, forecasting, AI, and automation
  • Intelligent community represents the longer-term opportunity to add opt-in, shared insights that help customers build and adapt new ways of working

Epicor’s role is to make emerging AI technology useful in the day-to-day work of the industries we serve. By applying AI to the data, security, and workflows already built into Epicor ERP, we can help makers, movers, and sellers make better decisions, act faster, and reduce risk.

Industry-Grounded, Governed by Design

Generic AI can understand language. AI used within ERP must also understand the business processes, data relationships, permissions, and effects of each action.

Epicor embeds industry-specific AI into the data models and workflows that support manufacturing, distribution, automotive, building supply, and retail. This gives Epicor Prism and Grow AI context about how orders, inventory, production, suppliers, shipments, customers, and financial transactions relate to one another.

That context matters because actions inside ERP have a direct impact on daily business processes. An AI-assisted action might create a purchase order, change a shipment, affect inventory, or contribute to a financial posting. Security, approvals, and human oversight therefore need to be built in from the start.

Epicor’s approach uses governed business data, role-based security, traceability, and human review. The same permissions and approval policies that apply to employees should also apply to AI-assisted actions. This allows organizations to work faster without giving up the controls required for important business decisions.

AI is powerful, but it is still maturing in complex supply chain environments. It works best when applied to clearly defined problems and workflows. Creativity, strategic thinking, empathy, and judgment remain human strengths. AI can support people by synthesizing information, identifying patterns, and reducing repetitive work.

Responsible intelligence means using AI to support human judgment while keeping people in control.

How Does AI Provide a Deliberate Path to Value?

Successful AI adoption does not require a business to automate everything at once. It begins with a trusted cloud and data foundation, a clearly defined operational problem, and a workflow where AI can make a measurable difference.

Teams can then expand at a practical pace — from learning and answering questions, to understanding operational context, optimizing the ERP environment, and automating selected workflows. As their experience grows, they can explore additional use cases and new ways to tailor agentic workflows to their business.

Throughout that journey, maintaining healthy data and ERP safeguards remains essential. Connected systems, clearly defined processes, reliable data, and appropriate governance give AI the foundation it needs to deliver useful results.

Over time, this can support something larger: a connected supply chain community where makers, movers, and sellers can—with appropriate safeguards and opt-in controls—learn from shared signals, align decisions, and respond to disruption with greater resilience.

A Practical Approach to AI

Epicor’s AI vision is not about adding a chatbot to ERP or chasing the latest technology trend. It is focused on combining predictive insight, agentic action, industry context, governed data, and human judgment in the systems businesses already use and trust every day.

With more than 50 years of industry experience, Epicor understands the workflows and decisions that keep the make, move, and sell economy running. Cognitive ERP combines that experience with modern AI to help teams use their data more effectively, make better decisions, and act with greater speed and control.
