Western United Electric Supply Corporation Selects Epicor Prophet 21 to Adapt to Changing Markets

Austin, TX November 12, 2018

Electrical distributor looks to Epicor technology to provide a more efficient customer experience

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced Western United Electric Supply Corporation (WUE) has chosen the award-winning Epicor® Prophet 21® software as its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. WUE plans on using the software to provide a more convenient customer experience and better inventory management.1920_wue-135013.png

WUE is a member-owned not-for-profit electric utility wholesale supplier. Its members and customers are rural electric cooperatives, municipal electric utilities, investor owned electric utilities, and electric utility contractors located in a nine-state Rocky Mountain region. WUE provides both material and tools to customers, which can be shipped at a competitive price from any of their three strategically located warehouses or directly from a manufacturer.

WUE prides itself on its excellent service and providing value to its customers. The company’s previous ERP system was not meeting their business needs, and they began searching for a new solution that could better manage inventory, give greater visibility, and provide improved convenience to new and existing customers.

  • “We wanted a solution with advanced features that was built specifically for distributors. Compared to the competition, the Prophet 21 solution has all of the features that we were looking for and is a better fit as an overall solution.”
  • - Eric Weinberg, Chief Information Officer, Western United Electric Supply Corporation

Technology for a changing market

Managing WUE’s previous system was time-consuming and did not include any advanced purchasing methods or eCommerce tools. Features in Prophet 21 software such as Mobile Proof of Delivery, Epicor Commerce (EC), and Wireless Warehouse will help make WUE more efficient and allow the company to maintain a lean staff as they grow. “Mobile Proof of Delivery is an extra thing that we can get for our customers to show them that we are changing with the market and adding technology for their convenience. They can sign right on the device and get invoiced faster,” explained Weinberg. WUE is also looking forward to providing instant visibility for the sales team, a more efficient accounting system with automated invoices, and better inventory management, resulting in less inventory on the shelves.

“The Prophet 21 solution is a fit-for-purpose, cloud ready, business system for distributors,” said Mark D. Jensen, senior director of product management, Epicor Software. “Based on feedback from our customers, Prophet 21 software has been designed to be easy to learn and easy to use. It helps distributors such as Western United Electric Supply Corporation win in today’s competitive markets by growing sales, improving margins, and increasing productivity.”
