Insights 2018 Recap

On May 21-24 more than 3,200 attendees descended on Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville for the  Epicor customer conference, Insights 2018. Attendees included existing and prospective customers, media, analysts/influencers, partners and hardworking employees. This year's theme "Fit - Ease - Growth" - the right fit for your industry, ease of use of Epicor products and unleashing growth. 

Epicor Insights is a great place to learn from other users and also the Epicor experts. The variety of classes is great and covers the wide expanse of the system. I will definitely be back again next year!

Here are a few highlights: 

  • The new expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft to deliver Epicor enterprise-class solutions globally on the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Experience Zone - a new highlight and premier destination of the latest Epicor innovations in the Solutions Pavilion sponsored by Microsoft.
  • The new Alliance Independent Software Vendor (ISV) program designed to bring innovative technology solutions from a host of providers to Epicor customers.  Vish Thirumurthy, Global Head of Alliances at Epicor said, "The program focuses on tapping into the innovations, software development experience, and deep vertical expertise in our partner ecosystem. It is different because the new program is more structured, more prescriptive, and provides many new resources to ensure partner success!"
  • The announcement of the latest versions of its industry leading distribution software solutions, Epicor Prophet 21 and Epicor Eclipse are a comprehensive cloud  application and designed to fit the needs of today's digital distributors.

Insights 2018 kicked off on a high note from Epicor CEO Steve Murphy on the main stage. Steve addressed the audience, "This event is about you. It's about you getting the most out of this and getting some real business value from being here with us in Nashville." The framework being used for the customers are these three words which attendees often heard on sessions and other keynotes: Fit - Ease - Growth. Steve added, "We fit you, we do not expect you to fit us. Whether it's the technology or the industry you're in, or the platform you like to use and the integration you like...we fit you." The highlight of Steve's keynote was the announcement of the strategic cloud alliance of Epicor and Microsoft Azure. What he said for Microsoft, "I really like their willingness to work with us...to partner....to co-invest....to be a part of this event. When we took a look at different options as far as cloud platform, for me this was a stand out. So I'm thrilled that we've been able to announce this partnership."

Followed by Steve Murphy was the keynote from Epicor Chief Product and Technology Officer, Himanshu Palsule

Himanshu talked about six trends in the industry such as industry specialization, cloud, mobility, global, digitization, and business intelligence. Below are his words about the following topics. 

  •  Industry Specialization - Your business needs to be at the top of its game. You need a laser focus on what makes you unique, and what gives you the ability to deliver products and services better than your competition.
  • Cloud - Cloud is arguably the greatest enabler of innovation in our time. It is now more powerful, more secure, and more connected than ever. If you're amazed with the innovations the cloud has brought in the last five years, wait until you see what's there now and where it's going in the next five years.
  • Mobility - It's no longer just about mobile apps. It's about the experience. It's about making sure that data seamlessly travels with you.
  • Global - As a global company with customers in over 140 countries, we have whole teams dedicated to understanding the requirements at a local level. You see, there is no country named 'Global'. Each country has its own unique requirements and they change frequently.
  • Digitization - Digitization is about automation and access, shifting the balance between what humans has to do and what technology can do for them.
  • Business Intelligence - When you think about business intelligence and analytics, it's not just about crunching more data. It's about going from data to insight to action. In the future, cognitive computing will get you there faster and easier than you can imagine.

Recognizing our Customers
Every year at Insights, Epicor recognizes innovative organizations that have successfully transformed operations by deploying Epicor solutions and services to achieve excellence in business efficiency, customer experience, and overall performance. We would like to congratulate Epicor customers for this year's Epicor Customer Excellence Awards. A big shout out to Radwell International, Northern Transformer, JIS, a Division of Jergens, Inc., BWF Envirotech USA, and Baxter Manufacturing.

Lisa Pope, executive VP for Sales Americas at Epicor hosted the customer panel discussion with executives from each company such as M&M Merchandizers, Wipaire Inc., North Coast Electric and Advanced Engineered Products. Each customer talked about their journey, improving processes, implementing the customer value workshop and how they are leveraging Epicor technologies including Prophet 21, Eclipse, ERP 10, and other solutions.

Until Next Year
Insights 2018 had it all. From technical insight on learning to how to reduce cost and increase ROI to peer insight discussing common challenges and sharing solutions. The four-day event got the crowd energized, and fueled with ideas. One of our customers, Amanda Weilandt, CPA and controller from RiverSide Electronics, Ltd. said, "Epicor Insights is a great place to learn from other users and also the Epicor experts.
