Epicor ERP Helps Leading Malay Media Group Gain Better Access to Business Insight and Support Growth

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced that Karangkraf Media Group has chosen the next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor ERP. The solution will help increase the company’s efficiency and provide increased visibility across the business to support its goals for continued growth.

Established in 1978, Karangkraf Media Group (Karangkraf) is the largest and one of the most successful Bumiputera-owned publishers in Malaysia. The company has established its position as a market leader in a challenging and evolving media industry, housing four key business groups, 20 magazines titles and the fastest growing Malay daily, Sinar Harian.

Karangkraf’s printing division, known as Ultimate Print, initially utilised a print-specific ERP solution in 1990. As they continued to expand, they found that the system became increasingly irrelevant so decided to implement a home-grown system developed by their in-house IT personnel.

As Karangkraf grew from RM10 million to RM200 million, the company required a business solution which could enable them to adhere to a higher level of operational standard and support their continued expansion plans. Syamil Fahim Bin Mohamed Fahim, chief operating officer for Karangkraf explained, “We have experienced significant growth over the past few years, and needed an ERP solution that would improve efficiency and complement our expanding business needs. We selected Epicor ERP due to its compelling features that build on efficiency, reliability and mobility.”

Only a few months after implementing Epicor ERP software, the company worked out that they had saved the equivalent of 50 working days when it came to compiling and analysing data and saved about RM80,000 compared to their in-house system. With a more efficient and disciplined business management system in place, Karangkraf’s Ultimate Print can gain detailed insight into their business processes at the push of a button. Business data is now organised consistently and accessible at any time.

Syamil continued, “We are now empowered with the tools to enable us to make precise and well informed decisions as we can access real-time data from all three departments on site or on mobile devices.”

“With Epicor ERP we are able to help Karangkraf streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency. This will enable the team to gain great visibility into their business and support their growth strategy,” said Sabby Gill, executive vice president for Epicor International.
