Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, today announced it will be an exhibitor at National Manufacturing Week 2018, Australia’s largest manufacturing showcase. The show themed ‘Where Innovation Meets Opportunity” will run from 9 May to 11 May 2018 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

Greg O’Loan, regional vice president, Epicor Software, said, “With the introduction of new and emerging technologies, the manufacturing industry has become much more competitive. Rising energy costs and strong competition from overseas companies means Australian manufacturers need to continue to find efficiencies throughout their business to be able to grow. National Manufacturing Week brings together experts within the industry to discuss new ideas, solutions and processes that can help businesses make improvements, enhance efficiency, and boost productivity.”

At the event, Sarah Polhill, CIO for Royal Australian Mint, will present on 11 May at 11:25 a.m. in the Industry 4.0 Theatre. Polhill will share her insights on process improvements and organisational resilience to market disruptions. She will discuss how to assess market disruptions and their impact on organisations, fostering responsive organisational processes, technologies and people, and the importance of building a culture of innovation to drive organisational performance and set up for future growth.

The Royal Australian Mint recently implemented Epicor ERP to improve efficiency and streamline processes for employees. The Mint needed to find efficiencies across the business to deal with increasing demand for collector coins. It chose Epicor ERP to drive production efficiencies and improve processes, improve information-sharing across the business, and deliver real-time reporting and online capabilities so the Mint could have visibility across its entire operations.

Ricardo Alberto, CTO, Royal Australian Mint, said, “One of the main reasons we chose Epicor ERP was that the solution met our organisational goals of flexibility and simplicity. The user interface, which was delivered out-of-the-box, fit perfectly with the Mint’s strategy of not having to customise significantly. Epicor offers the flexibility to support the business wherever we want to expand because we don’t need to customise the solution. The Epicor ERP system reflects what is happening in the business, in every area, at every step of the way.”

In terms of supporting the company’s future growth, the Mint now has the flexibility to accommodate new ideas and new ways of approaching the market.

O’Loan said, “2018 is a year of preparing for change for many manufacturing businesses. This includes letting go of legacy systems that are costly to maintain and don’t deliver a strong return on investment. It can be daunting for an organisation to move away from heavily-customised systems. But to take advantage of innovative features and capabilities that can drive the business forward, they must modernise.

“Rather than create additional complexity, manufacturers should seek solutions that are fit for purpose, easy to use, and position their organisation for growth.”
