Azure Architecture

In this release, we continue to improve the underlying functionality & performance of Prophet 21 on Azure for current and future needs. Epicor Prophet 21 Cloud on Microsoft Azure is a global, cloud-enabled, high-performance enterprise system that fits your business needs, industry requirements, and how your modern workforce expects to interact with technology. Moving to the cloud allows distributors to focus on growing their business, transferring many of the costs and security risks to the cloud technology providers, and allows their skilled resources to focus on key business initiatives.

Accounting and Finance Enhancements

Epicor Prophet 21 now provides dimensional accounting that will arm distributors with the information they need to make informed and strategic decisions across their organization. Dimensional accounting, or the ability to set up unique reports for specific areas, will allow distributors to provide measurable ROI by analyzing the total cost of a project or department.

In addition to Dimensional Accounting, the Prophet 21 2020.1 release provides your accounting team with the ability to close individual journals for posting within an accounting period, while allowing other journals to remain open. This allows an accounting and finance department more flexibility and ease of use when it comes to closing accounting periods.

Manage Your Inventory During Unforeseen Circumstances

New functionality is being added to Prophet 21’s Restricted Items feature to allow users to limit the quantity of a specific item that may be ordered at one time. Previously, this feature would allow distributors to restrict certain customers from ordering a specific item, and those that were not restricted from purchase were able to order any quantity they desired. This new update allows distributors to set quantity limits on a per-item basis to avoid a few customers ordering all the inventory at once and allows distributors to serve as many of their existing customers’ needs as possible.

Prophet 21 Web Application

The Prophet 21 Web Application is a browser-based version of Prophet 21 solution that translates the user experience to the web, so you can use its familiar and rich distribution features from a web browser. With the Web Application, your employees can work from anywhere without the need for a VPN connection, and minimal training is required to use the application. This allows you the ability to easily set up users outside of your corporate network to work remotely, increasing productivity. The Prophet 21 Web Application is included with your Prophet 21 solution Maintenance Program. As a reminder, the Prophet 21 Web Application can be deployed as either an on-premises or cloud-based solution.

New features only available in the Web Application

Scheduled Tasks is a new feature in the web application that continues to make Prophet 21 more efficient. In the scheduler, you will find the ability to email forms, print and email to file, schedule production order WIP worksheets, and synchronizing contacts with outlook. In addition, you can set new recurrence patterns (monthly or by day of the week) and shop option only in supported windows.

Prophet 21 2020.1 also provides new functionality with our grid management tools that allow you to edit data when filters are applied as well as to adjust columns by dragging, reordering, and locking them in place.

Finally, the DynaChange™ Version Manager in the web application allows you to review DynaChange entries associated with a given user or role, to quickly understand each role’s unique view.

Updated SDK

Improvements to our Software Development Kit help our users more easily configure and customize our software to meet their business needs. These updates include tools to help customers understand how to easily implement our extensibility solutions, such as step-by-step tutorials for each API tool that have robust examples for each API and downloadable code that can be executed against local instances. It also includes content updates including a chart detailing when to use the different tools.
