How Retail Software Improves Customer Interaction

I’m David Henning, EVP & GM of Epicor Retail and I am thrilled we have this new opportunity to share thoughts and ideas relating to Retail IT.  In my 25 years in this industry, I have not seen as much angst, fear and concern on the part of both retailers and shoppers as I see today.  Every day I speak with retailers who tell me of their misfortunes and of an uncertain future.  Most have planned their business down year-on-year and are keeping a very close on every dollar they spend.

Yet even in these murky times I see reason for hope and optimism.  Never in history have retailers been able to get so close to their customers through the convergence of mobile technology, Web 2.0, sophisticated CRM programs and databases, and Business Analytics and Intelligence tools.  So while retail as we knew it as recently as 5 to 10 years ago, where most shopping was done in brick-and-mortar stores, has been upended; today’s world allows retailers many more touch points with their target customers.  I think you’ll agree with me that each customer interaction is even more critical to a retailer’s success than ever before.

With this blog now in place, I look forward to healthy discussions around this new world in which we all operate.
