Epicor Helps Radisson Blu Iveria Stay Connected to its Head Office

The five-star Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel stands high above the Mtkvari River, providing panoramic views of Tbilisi, Georgia's beautiful capital city. Located in the heart of the business district, Radisson Blu Iveria also has impressive meeting and conference facilities and stands just a short walk from the main government offices, as well as popular restaurants and shops.

The Radisson Blu Iveria offers guests modern services such as free high-speed wireless Internet access, as well as timeless services such as a modern cuisine, a relaxing bar atmosphere, luxurious spa treatments, and a host of entertainment at the large casino. To manage the financial side of such a large hotel takes organisation skills, and expertise. A team of 5 people in the finance department is helped by several software systems including Epicor iScala for Hospitality.

"We installed Epicor iScala 1.5 years ago on the recommendation of our head offices," says Ellene Sharikadze, financial controller for the Radisson Blu Iveria, "We were just about to open the hotel to the public and by installing iScala we gained a direct interface to the head office business planning and consolidation system."

The Radisson Blu Hotels and Resorts are part of the Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world. The Rezidor Group currently operates more than 400 hotels in operation and under development in 62 countries worldwide. The Radisson Blu is a first class full service hotel brand entirely focused on guest satisfaction and impressive customer services.

"We have three iScala users in the financial department and we use the system for our basic accounting processes," says Sharikadze. "It handles Georgian, VAT very well and it's easy to run VAT reconciliations. About three to four times a week we run an accounts payable report to see which invoices are due for payment, and we can then easily check paid invoices against the banking system. We also use balance reports to ensure that our purchase ledges matches the general ledger. Due to the high volume of food and beverage invoices we run separate files to make sure these are dealt with correctly."

Radisson Blu Iveria use five software systems in total and data from the other four systems are automatically imported into iScala for processing and reporting. The integration with the head office system saves the accounting department at least three to four hours every month.

Sharikadze explains: "The main benefit with iScala is definitely our integration with the head office. Every month end we run four or five different reports that are created to Rezidor's requirements and we can then download the entire reports directly from iScala straight into their system. All I need to do in the beginning was to map cost centers, the rest is all done automatically, saving us at least three to four hours every month as opposed to having to manually create reports in Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet, something we still have to do for other reporting requirements. She concludes: "iScala is very good for hotel bookkeeping activities."
