For over 40 years, Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply of Springfield, Missouri has been owned and operated by the DeForest family. Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply is dedicated to providing the Ozarks with quality service and products. Craig and Roger DeForest continue to expand their business to surrounding areas with stores also located in Carthage, MO and Monett, MO. Race Brothers carries a complete line of farm and home supplies including clothing, electrical, plumbing, lawn and garden, outdoor power equipment, tools, truck accessories, pet supplies, cattle handling equipment, farm fencing, and toys. Race Brothers promises to provide outstanding service and products from a suburban home to an acreage in the country.

Time Management + Stress-Free Training = Focused Management 

Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply has successfully managed and expanded their business using Epicor solutions for over 15 years. "We initially chose Epicor, at that time it was Triad, because we needed a system our employees could use easily," said Roy Mason, vice president and manager of Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply. "A system that would help us spend less time on mundane manual tasks and allow for a more productive team was key to the purchase of the Epicor solution. The successful use of this solution has led us to another great Epicor product, Training on Demand." 

Race Brothers is committed to improving their employees' experience. After being introduced to the Epicor® Training on Demand™ (TOD) program at an industry trade show, Mason immediately wanted to implement this program to make better use of the time spent training employees, while at the same time increasing employee exposure to training modules. "As soon as I heard the details of TOD, I knew it was a great program," said Mason. "I also knew that if we got this program up and running in our stores it would really help develop our company's best practices and allow for a more focused management team."

"When our employees were introduced to TOD and viewed the courses their first reactions were 'What a great idea! Why aren't we doing this? Why can't we do this?,' right then we knew we were off to a good start," said Mason. "This positive feedback allowed us to start off with a bang and introduce TOD to our staff with a great backing from employees."

Information Sharing Leads to Ease of Training 

Preceding the Epicor® Training on Demand program, Race Brothers was experiencing difficulties sharing information across the management team and employees. Race Brothers was using traditional ways of training their employees; cashier to cashier, stock person to stock person. "Looking at the marketplace and comparing how we were fairing in relation to other training programs within industry businesses, we knew there was a large gap in communication between our staff at all levels," said Mason. "We began implementing TOD with the main goal of creating one comprehensive training program for use in all three stores." 

Currently, with the use of Training on Demand, the Race Brothers' training program allows for comparable training in all three stores. "The Epicor Training on Demand program is so powerful," said Mason. "We were not utilizing training appropriately, especially at the management level. Now, we are effectively implementing many more training programs, significantly improving the productivity of our employees."
