Automating the Business Flow with Epicor Service Connect at Electroizdelia

JSC TD Electroizdelia is a large enterprise with a branched out filial structure including nine representations in various cities. The enterprise offers an extensive product rage on both wholesale and retail basis.
In 2003 Electroizdelia had implemented Epicor's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and finished automating their financial and management accounting processes. In time, the system was gradually extended so that other business processes were automated. To increase the operating efficiency of the warehouse, Electroizdelia decided to implement a warehouse management system (WMS). In 2008, to increase the level of enterprise automation, and reduce the amount of errors due to double entry, the company decided to integrate the Epicor system with the WMS.
Initially the integration issues were resolved by using MS SQL Server and Epicor's import option. In order to reduce the amount of programming needed during application integration, the team decided to buy a new tool that could simplify the integration process and help develop new business processes while minimizing programming time.
Epicor presented Service Connect to Electroizdelia. Epicor Service Connect operates as the central point of integration for business processes and document circulation. Integration is easily done by means of visual tools in the Service Connect Data Mapping. These tools allow users to carry out communication and transformation of XML-documents. It also allows users to transfer XML documents to other systems by the use of various channels and interfacing protocols.
The platform includes features such as data transmission protection, message exchange, web-interface management within the system, data transformation, schedule creation, notification, and exception processing.
By means of Service Connect, Electroizdelia has automated their business processes for transferring reference books, goods, and contractors, as well as the order confirmation, shipment and delivery process.
The implementation took only two months. In this time, the interfaces between the WMS and Epicor were finished, worker threads were created, testing done, and the system went live successfully. UrZA have subsequently developed a number of additional functional blocks through the customization options that Epicor offers.
