Why do Epicor BisTrack customers keep winning prizes?
Award winning timber and building product distribution companies tend to be Epicor BisTrack
software users. Why? What do they have in common? And will implementing an Epicor solution mean you are more likely to win a prestigious industry award?
The majority of the winners at recent UK timber or merchant industry award events use an Epicor solution! The annual London based TTJ (Timber Trades Journal) awards
have just taken place. Now in their 21st year, they showcase the timber sector as a modern and forward-looking industry and they set out to recognise the areas that are vital to business success. This year, out of the 11 awards presented for achievements by companies, seven were given to Epicor BisTrack customers.
The coveted top prize for ‘Timber trader of the year’ went to James Latham – a leading timber importer and distributor of panel products, joinery quality timber and wood flooring. Epicor BisTrack was implemented across the James Latham group ten years ago and its team has remained a pioneer of many of the solution’s key developments – particularly within the reporting module. At the time of implementation, Financial Director, David Dunmow said he chose BisTrack because he believed its ease of use and functionality would lead to less repetitive administration and allow their salesmen to focus on selling. More recently he’s stressed the benefits of having an ERP system like BisTrack that lets you manage all your business processes – eliminating the need to rely on extra third party software. He hates it if one of his team says “I keep a separate spreadsheet for that.” James Latham also won the TTJ award for Flooring Trader of the Year and a Career Development award.
The Softwood Trader of the Year award went to Abor Forest Products – another BisTrack user - who operate one of the most modern timber machining facilities in the UK. Hardwood Trader of the year was taken by Timbmet, another leading timber distributor and long time user of an Epicor solution. Timbmet also has a significant connection to Coast Eco Timber, the company that won the environmental achievement award for its remarkable work in harvesting submerged tropical hardwoods from a Panamanian reservoir – they are marketing this unique and beautiful eco-friendly material in the UK.
Epicor BisTrack user, Panel Supplies, took the Panels Trader of the Year award while Plywood Trader of the Year went to International Plywood, one of the largest and fastest growing importers in the industry – another BisTrack user!
Another Career Development award was presented to T Brewer – a long established importer, sawmiller and merchant and one of the first companies to use BisTrack in the UK. At the time, a T Brewer director said, “Suddenly everything was visible. With dashboard reporting, we could see business as it came in and if it wasn’t at an acceptable margin, or stock wasn’t available, then the correct manager was informed. We were also able to extract and manipulate data which saved us time and enabled us to market the business more effectively.” T Brewer was also an early adopter of BisTrack’s Mobile and Web Track modules. Ten years ago this forward looking team were already mindful of industry surveys demonstrating that builders were increasingly expecting the flexibility of multi-channel shopping for their building materials – and were already supplying a generation of customers who had grown up with the internet and took for granted the ability to check prices and place orders at any time from anywhere – they knew it was the way forward.
We believe it’s no coincidence that so many Epicor customers are award-winning! It’s clear to us that companies - like those highlighted above - who are forward looking, innovative, pioneering and focused on what they are good at, take the selection of their software very seriously and will only choose a solution they see has the capacity to inspire and power their businesses as they continue to move forward.
