Duncan Parnell Celebrates 70 Years and Business Transformation Award

Founded in 1946, Duncan Parnell, a distributor and service provider for professional equipment, serving the AEC (architectural/engineering/construction) market has embarked its 70th year anniversary in 2016. Not only celebrating this milestone, the company also received  the Business Transformation Award during the first annual Epicor 2016 Customer Excellence Award for the Americas held earlier this year. Duncan Parnell needed to select an ERP platform that would create a foundation upon which the company could build future sales growth and increased profits.  By utilizing Epicor Prophet 21, the company’s CRM functionality was able to allow sales managers to see performance, opportunities, all in one report/portal, which helped them manage their teams. With the Service and Maintenance module, users were able to enter easily and process service quotes and orders at all phases of a service transaction.  The company can now review inventory value levels for records on a specific day with various filtering mechanisms through the inventory worksheet.  In addition, the report can show quantity on hand information, unit costing, and other metrics that are valuable to the Duncan-Parnell accountant, and will reflect any changes made to inventory after year end.  

Significant Impacts
Among the significant impacts from implementation, the company experienced:

  • Profits are up by 133%
  • Sales increased 58% over three years
  • Sales per employee went from $15,700/mo. to $22,500/mo. 
  • Inventory is not going up as fast as sales or profits, allowing cash conservation

Duncan Parnell improved visibility into business operations, improved performance of report functionality and was able to determine profitability more easily.
