Epicor Flexes its Cloud Muscle through Newest Epicor ERP Release
As a growing number of organizations move to leverage the cloud as a growth enabler and take advantage of a new cloud- first era of service delivery and flexibility, at Epicor we are making it easy for organizations to leverage ERP in the cloud for improved time to value.
Today we announced the latest release of our award-winning enterprise resource planning (ERP) business software, Epicor ERP -- available in the cloud, hosted or on premises. The new Epicor ERP 10.1 release has a very strong ‘cloud first’ orientation, as more and more companies are moving to rapidly adopt cloud solutions.
According to Gartner studies on cloud adoption, “Spending on public-cloud-based, vertical-specific applications is expected to significantly increase through 2017, further highlighting the growing confidence in their use for mission-critical systems.” And, “As its technologies and processes mature, the cloud is being increasingly relied on as a vehicle for agile, scalable and elastic solutions. To build competitive advantage and cut costs, CIOs and other IT leaders need to constantly adapt their strategies to leverage cloud capabilities.”1
This is in line with the growth we see in our Cloud ERP profile across the board, and especially in the manufacturing sector, where Epicor has years of industry expertise serving thousands of customers. Cloud ERP is perfect for manufacturers as the cloud ideally facilitates the collaborative nature of manufacturing across the entire supply chain.
Epicor has proven experience in ERP cloud deployments -- having migrated existing ERP customers, new ERP customers, as well as customers from legacy platforms to the cloud -- and, now with Epicor ERP 10.1, we’ve upgraded over 300 multi-tenant Epicor cloud customers to the new version in a timeframe previously unimaginable for ERP implementations.
Customers Prep for Growth with Epicor Cloud ERP
Epicor Cloud ERP is a popular choice for organizations that want ERP delivered as a service and accompanied by value-added services to ensure scalability, security and business continuity.
Epicor Cloud ERP customer Waldoch was impressed by the ease of the migration process. The company is a make-to-order manufacturer of luxury conversion vans and custom lifted trucks for sale to dealers -- including Ford, General Motors and Ram -- along with some 400,000 parts that it and sells directly to consumers. “We felt completely supported by Epicor throughout the process,” said Bill Waldoch, general manager, Waldoch.
Having recently celebrated its 40th year in business, the company is positioning itself for growth -- with plans to double the size of the company over the next few years. To support this goal, the company is leveraging Epicor to assist the company in simplifying processes, supporting greater production volume and streamlining compliance. “Additionally, Epicor helps us understand how we performed in the past so we can better plan for the future,” he said.
“Seamless to users” -- that’s how Carol Zorn, information technology project manager, business analyst, for Barilla America Inc., characterized the recent move to Epicor ERP 10.1. An Epicor ERP in the cloud customer for three years, the company’s Academia Barilla business unit was upgraded to the new version in November. Selling specialty imported food goods to gourmet, natural and independent grocery markets, Academia Barilla has leveraged Epicor to grow and pivot, making the transition from a distributor sales model to a direct customer model.
The flexibility of Epicor ERP has enabled the company to easily customize the system to meet its unique business needs. Despite these customizations, Academia Barilla was live on the new release quickly and required only a 40-hour total time investment for internal training and readiness, including pre-deployment testing. “In all my years of doing ERP deployments, this Epicor ERP 10.1 rollout was the smoothest and easiest I have ever experienced,” said Zorn. Epicor’s philosophy in supporting freedom of choice has always resonated with our customer base, as we allow companies to determine their own timing with regard to moving to the cloud. For those customers who do want to move to the cloud, Epicor has put in place resources and facilities to reduce complexity and streamline migrations.
